What good are employee benefits if the employees don’t use them?  Obviously—no good!  As you know, it’s the concern of every employer that its employees understand the value of their benefits.  Only with this understanding can employees take advantage of their medical coverage, life insurance, and retirement benefits.  As experts in the field, we know that employees without benefits are sorely at a disadvantage.  Their employers miss out too—employees without benefits won’t stay long.  Employers incur the opportunity cost on potential talent, energy and ideas.

So what good is the Western Pension & Benefit Conference if you’re not a member?  You can probably see where this is goingMembership offers you a great opportunity to access an ongoing supply of information and expertise.  The Conference objective is to promote sound practices in the field of employee benefits by means of information sharing and educational seminars.

Right now approximately 400 members belong to the Los Angeles Chapter of the WP&BC.  These members contribute their specialized knowledge as plan sponsors, consultants, actuaries, ERISA attorneys, investment managers and trust professionals.

The question now becomes:  How are you going to benefit from the wealth of benefit knowledge and network potential if you don’t belong to the WP&BC?

Local Meetings

The Los Angeles Chapter offers at least six local dinner meetings each year.  The meetings combine a social hour that affords ample opportunity to visit informally with other professionals and unwind with an evening program.  Presentations have featured experts from the Treasury Department, the investment community and ERISA attorneys.  In addition, a full-day seminar is held in the spring on topical benefit issues.

National Meetings

Each year during the summer one of the regional chapters hosts a three-day seminar for all Conference members and other employee benefit professionals.  Annual Meeting programs feature recognized experts, including IRS, DOL and PBGC officials.  They provide in-depth analysis of advanced topics and profile new developments in the benefits arena.  The written support materials combine to provide you with a handy reference guide to use throughout the year.  The goal is to provide an opportunity for intensive training and updates, in an enjoyable setting with plenty of time for professional and social interaction.
